Cuban Dance Festival - May 24 & 25
AfroLatino Dance Company and Okokan Productions are bringing to Toronto the most exciting event of the year: a full weekend of the best in Cuban dance and music! You will be enjoying the sounds of no other than the great Pupy y Los Que Son Son , and dance workshops taught by renowed guest teachers.
Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy almost 8 hours of workshops by great guest teachers such as Felix "Pupy" Insua, Ana Machado, and Duane Wrenn and Maribel Vasquez. Then dance the night out to the sight and sounds of Pupy y Los Que Son Son, playing at the Opera House. It is the first time Toronto will be seeing a combination of show and weekend workshops specially geared towards Cuban dance.
Saturday - May 24
4-5:20pm: Casino with Rumba Styling (Int/Adv)
- With Duane Wrenn and Maribel Vasquez from energeticsoul studios Clawson Michigan
- This workshop will focus on adding rumba styling to casino (Cuban salsa) partner work. You will how to spice up your partner work with rumba, both for men and women.
5:30-7pm: Afro-Cuban (All levels) With Felix Pupy Insua from NYC
- These workshops will challenge you in any possible way, by incorporating elements from Afro-Cuban (Rumba, orishas, Arará) and popular dances (Son, Cha Cha Cha, Casino). Definitely a workshop with something for everyone, "out-of-the box" concept, and the amazing knowledge and energy of Felix Pupy Insua.
Sunday - May 25
12-1:20pm: Rueda de Casino (Int/Adv) With Duane Wrenn and Maribel Vasquez
- Learn exciting and new patterns for (Casino) Rueda. This workshop will have challenge both intermediate and advanced level dancers.
4-5:20pm: Afro-Cuban for Salsa (All levels) With Ana Machado
Learn how to incorporate afro-cuban movement into your Cuban salsa, and look more authentic and flavorful by doing so. This workshop is specially designed for those who have had some exposure to afro-cuban movement before but beginners are welcome as well.
5:30-7pm: Afro-Cuban (All levels) With Felix Pupy Insua
